DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS FACULTY POSITION

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care and service is seeking a full-time faculty member in the Department of Neurology with expertise in the treatment of patients with Multiple Sclerosis and other demyelinating disorders.  The ideal candidate will be either fellowship trained in neuro-immunology, or spend a majority of their current clinical time in the care of patients with MS and other demyelinating disorders.  This position should be an ideal fit for a faculty member with interests in clinical/translational sciences and who embraces an interdisciplinary comprehensive approach to patient care.

The candidate would be stepping into a well-established multi-disciplinary MS Center, with a database of 500-700 adults with multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis and neuromyelitis optica and supported by an MS specialized DPT, a dedicated registered nurse and a psychologist from our Division of Family Therapy.  This center is also supported by three excellent neuroradiologists, two neuro-urologists and two neuropsychologists.  There is a full-fledged infusion center, certified for Tysabri and Lemtrada.

This clinical practice offers collaboration with one of the largest NMSS chapters nationwide, offering the successful candidate a leadership role in its Health Advisory Committee.  Given the recent merger of St. Louis University Hospital with SSM St. Louis, there is the unique opportunity for growth and expansion within the SSM network, with a new University Hospital and outpatient center due for completion in 2020.

From a research standpoint, there are currently 7 active drug trials as well as 4 clinical studies with nursing faculty, supported by the Department’s Clinical Research Unit, which includes access to 3 dedicated research RN’s, an IRB administrator and a budget administrator.  Opportunities also exist for collaboration with multiple basic scientists and access to intramural Neuroscience Center grants.

The position also affords the candidate multiple teaching experiences across many levels of trainees, including University medical students and both an Adult and Pediatric Neurology residency training program.

The University offers competitive faculty salaries and rank commensurate with experience, excellent fringe benefits, free tuition at St. Louis University for faculty children and access to competitive free tuition in the Jesuit network across the country as well as opportunities for advanced education for the faculty member with Master of Science degrees available in numerous health related fields.
