It is hard to believe that we are already in 2022, but indeed we are, and the AUPN Winter Program Series is upon us. We thank Dr. John England (LSU Health Sciences Center) and all the great speakers and participants for the highly engaging Department Chairs and Program Directors Forum already held this past week. The below sessions are free to all (members and nonmembers alike) and registration is open. For speaker details and to register for these exciting sessions, click on the program links below or visit the AUPN website under Future Programs. The Program Director’s Workshop scheduled for Friday, January 28th from 3pm – 5pm ET is moderated by Dr. Tom Frontera (University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine). During this session, Dr. David Lee Gordon (University of Oklahoma) will discuss Neurology Residency Education in the Age of Millennials and the fast-rising Generation Z. A Program Director-led panel discussion will follow. The Clerkship Director’s Workshop is scheduled for February 4th from 1pm – 3pm ET and is moderated by Dr. Cara Harth (SUNY, Stony Brook). This workshop will explore novel ways of evaluating neurology clerkship students. Panelists from the Harvard and UCSF programs will share their experiences with a Pass/Fail paradigm, which utilizes multi-modal systems of assessment grounded in the collection of multiple data points, followed by a round table discussion by all participants. Finally, Neuroimaging has always been a challenging area for Neurology Departments, due to the dominance of radiology over this area. Consequently, fellowship training for neurologists in neuroimaging is a complex landscape. The United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) is conducting a brief 2-minute survey of AUPN members to identify potential barriers to the growth and development of Neuroimaging fellowship training programs. We wish everyone a healthy and successful 2022, Clifton L. Gooch, MD AUPN President
