Dear AUPN Chairs,
As a member of AUPN, you have already taken a critical step in advancing and strengthening the academic Neurology community through education and the sharing of best practices among leaders in academic neurology. We are now asking for your participation in our AUPN Mentorship Program.
The AUPN Mentorship Program pairs Mentor Chairs (3+ years experience) with New Chairs (>3 years experience) in an effort to provide mentoring support and help with the transition into the New Chair's role.
If you would like to participate as a Mentor or Mentee, please complete the below survey. DEADLINE: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 29. Mentor-Mentee pairings will be sent in December.
As a Mentor Chair, we ask for the following commitment:
- Commit to being paired with a new Chair during their first three years in their role and provide mentoring to help him/her grow in their role.
- During your first conversation, work with your mentee to choose important topics he/she would like to work on throughout their first three years as Chair.
- Work to build a strong relationship so you can be a long-term resource for him/her.
- Connect with your mentee six times throughout the year. Connections should be made in person, via skype or phone call to provide the best experience for all involved.
We invite all Chairs to attend the AUPN New Chairs Luncheon held in conjunction with the AAN Annual Meeting this Spring. Additional information about the lunch will be sent in early 2020.
Our success is driven by member involvement, and we hope you will choose to participate in the AUPN Mentorship Program.
If you have any questions, please contact the AUPN Executive Office at neuro@aupn.org.
