University of New Mexico: Open Rank, Open Track Dementia Cognitive Neurologist
The Department of Neurology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is seeking an Open Rank, Open Track Dementia Cognitive Neurologist to join our Memory and Aging team. Leadership opportunities exist for outstanding candidates with a strong track record of accomplishments and research portfolio. Candidates are invited to apply from those at an Associate or Full Professor level.
The incumbent will lead a team of faculty and staff in the Memory and Aging Center (MAC). The selected candidate can expect to provide outpatient clinics and bench research. The MAC is fully equipped with state of the art equipment and is the only center devoted to Alzheimer’s and Dementia Research and Treatment in New Mexico or the Mountain West. The incumbent will be expected to have excellent communications skills, ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary setting, and experience with clinical trials. Excellent compensation and start up packages are available to support the research activities of the candidate. Current RO1 funding is required.
UNM Hospital is the tertiary care center for the State and the only Level 1 Trauma Center and Burn Center in New Mexico. The Department has 26 full-time and part-time attending physicians and is home to well-established Residency and Fellowship programs.
Minimum requirements: MD, PhD degree or equivalent; experience and training in Neurological disease in older adults, especially dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, must be eligible for licensure in the State of New Mexico and must be eligible to work in the United States.
Preferred Requirements: Expertise in ADRC-focused science, track record of sustained peer-reviewed funding from NIH, track record of funding of pharmaceutical studies in Alzheimer and related disorders, experience in an academic setting.
