Leadership Minute
This month’s leadership minute, entitled “What to do when you have too much to do?“ is presented by Laurie Gutmann (Indiana University) and introduced by Alissa Willis (University of Mississippi). As most chairs and other department leaders quickly realize, the number of possible obligations for any leader in an organization is infinite. There is no perfect method to “protect” yourself, but you need to be able to place limits in order to do the best job possible on things that are really essential. This brief program provides some guidelines that can help you prioritize: What is strategically important for your role? What is important to you personally? What is important to success of your team and cannot be delegated? Lastly, it is vital to be honest to yourself and others. Don’t miss these important words of wisdom – they may save you a lot of time and frustration!
