AUPN Professional Development Workshop II:
Holistic Review of Residency Applicants
Monday, September 15, 2025 | 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM ET
Room: Lake Laurel AB
In conjunction with the ANA Annual Meeting

Course Description

Medical schools and standardized examinations have largely moved to pass fail systems.  Following the Supreme Court ruling, several items in the ERAS system are blocked until interview decisions are completed.  These changes have led to new approaches to the resident candidate selection and evaluation process with “holistic” reviews.  Approaches being used by three residency programs will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

  1. Be able to describe the “holistic” review process.
  2. Discuss strategies that can be used to select residency candidates to invite for interviews.
  3. List different approaches to guide the interview process.
