The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the tenure track to serve as Chief of the Pennsylvania Hospital site of the Department of Neurology. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board certification in Neurology is required. Candidates are expected to be accomplished in the area of Neurology and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
Teaching responsibilities may include overseeing and supporting all educational programs at the Pennsylvania Hospital site of the University of Pennsylvania, the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) and the Department of Neurology. This includes the education of medical students, residents, fellows, house officers, faculty and other allied health professions trainees. Among other responsibilities, will work with department leadership to ensure fulfillment of ACGME accreditation requirements at Pennsylvania Hospital.
Clinical responsibilities may include both inpatient and/or outpatient service as appropriate to support access and quality/safety of the neurology practices at Pennsylvania Hospital. The PAH Chair is expected to grow excellent clinical programs and advance the clinical research mission of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the Perelman School of Medicine.
Research responsibilities may include maintaining an active research portfolio in their particular area of scholarship. While both tenure and clinician-educator track faculty conduct methodological and collaborative research, tenure track faculty focus primarily on methodological research while clinician-educator track faculty focus primarily on collaboration. The PAH Chair will also provide research mentorship and is expected to promote and support research activities based at Pennsylvania Hospital.
The successful candidate will assume the role of Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH) Chair of Neurology within the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine. Pennsylvania Hospital is a member institution of the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) and is part of the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. PAH has a long history of excellence in clinical neurology, education, and clinical research. We are seeking an outstanding individual who has an established reputation for clinical innovation and academic excellence, as well as leadership qualities and administrative skills to lead the Department of Neurology at Pennsylvania Hospital.
